Stop working out and start training!

I have been taking Swim Classes from Bonnie for 8 months.  When I started, I could only swim 1 lap of freestyle before having to rest by swimming a lap of breaststroke.  I now can swim 1000 meters of freestyle without stopping in about 22 minutes.

Bonnie is an inspiration!  I signed up for a triathlon not knowing how to swim.  I started swimming with Bonnie and boy was I ready for the race.  She not only teaches you – she also pushes you and you realize you can do things you never thought you could.  Her warm smile and encouraging words inspire me to “give just a little more” when I thought I could not.  THANKS BONNIE!!

I started with Bonnie over 4 months ago thinking I was a decent enough swimmer but got to her class and realized I was not.  What I did find out was I had a lot to learn.  I was one of the slower swimmers in the group, a bit embarrassed of my lack of knowledge but she very patiently worked with me on my strokes, gave me drills to work on for the week so that when I came back to her I would be more comfortable.  I was happily swimming 1000 meters before as I was working towards improving  swimming for my sprint triathlons but what I have found out over this time of training with Bonnie is that the drills she has us do has improved my stroke, my speed and my endurance.  I find that my lungs don’t quit at 1500.  I am able to do repetitive sprints and still manage to do more.  Since training with Bonnie I have a goal to do my first Olympic triathlon.  I feel stronger in the water.  I can bilateral breathe.  I still have a lot to go but I’m no longer the slowest swimmer.  I enjoy the training with Bonnie and have seen a tremendous improvement in my distance.  She is working with us individually to complete our goals.

The swim endurance class at LTF run by Bonnie Smith is an incredible class. The growth of the class over the past year speaks for itself. Bonnie's style of teaching is inspirational. Her helpful, yet humble, encouraging approach coupled with her experience, skill, and knowledge of swimming makes her a very skilled coach. She not only has the expertise to identify incorrect form, but has the ability to instruct the swimmer on how to correct it. She has helped me personally to overcome a lifelong stroke habit, that I was completely unaware of. Bonnie has the ability to push us passed our comfort zone which challenges us to achieve new goals.
